Matthew 24 has been grossly abused by today's theologians. Jesus never said we could not know when He was returning. He said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away (be destroyed by His Father; see Revelation 20:11)...but of THAT day and THAT hour knows no man..." Jesus was talking about the day His Father would destroy heaven and earth not His coming!
Jesus contrasts the above date with His own coming which is knowable. Jesus told us to wait for the sign of the Son of Man just before the rapture. Matthew 24:29-31. This sign has been around since the opening of Genesis and is throughout the Scriptures. It occurs always on the Passover.
